Heritage Area Approved by U.S. House of Representatives October 2007 The U.S. House of Representatives approved legisation on October 24, 2007 to designate a Santa Cruz Valley National Heritage Area. The bill was introduced in the House by Congressman Raúl Grijalva and Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.  The Heritage Alliance applauds Congressman Grijalva and Congresswoman Giffords for supporting this legislation, which not only celebrates our rich cultural heritage, but also supports heritage-based economic development throughout the Santa Cruz Valley.
