* Heritage Foods & Dining eligibility: Businesses must use, prepare, grow, or feature local or heritage foods. Heritage foods can be described as “locally produced foods tied to the region’s history and cultural identity.” This definition provides for the promotion of wild desert food products, historically cultivated crops, foods that are culturally unique to this region, and modern crops that continue the agricultural traditions of the Santa Cruz Valley. This includes local farmers, ranchers and gardeners, value-added products such as local honey or prickly pear products, grocery stores that sell local foods, or restaurants that highlight local and heritage foods on their menu.
